A Night In Shallow Alto

My trip to the Bay Area has been going great so far. It's not exactly warm and sunshiney here, but it sure beats the single digit temps and snow back home. I've been enjoying the variety of different foods and spending time with friends that I haven't seen for quite a while.

Last night, my pal M and I drove to Palo Alto and had a fantastic Cuban dinner at La Bodeguita. I passed on their famous Mojitos in favor of a Cuban Sidecar...a mistake...but I wasn't disappointed by the Empanadas or roasted pork with black beans.

Afterwards, we went to see The Triplets of Belleville, a sweetly bizarre animated French film that contained heavy doses of early Max Fleischer surrealism combined with a distinctly Gallic sense of humor. I loved it.

Panic In Detroit

I apologize for the dearth of posting around these parts lately. I've been busy with work during the day and without an internet connection at night. I'll be here in the Detroit area through next Wednesday, so normal blogging should resume when I return home.

I'm also trying to line up some activities for the weekend so I won't go stir crazy in my hotel room. I had hoped to catch David Bowie and Macy Gray in concert tonight, but it was not to be. Instead, I scored a ticket to see The Second City troupe perform downtown. I could use some comedy in my life right now.

Tomorrow, I plan to hit the 2004 North American International Auto Show which seems to be an appropriate activity for a Motor City sojourn. On Sunday, perhaps a trip to Ann Arbor.

Catch y'all on the flipside!
