Beverly Hills TV: 9021...Closed
In case you hadn't heard, the Beverly Hills Trader Vic's closed up shop this week, and did it in the sneakiest, most underhanded way possible. With Vic's gone, the developer scum who own the property, will have a far easier time razing everything to make way for much-needed, bazillion-dollar condos.
Humuhumu has written an eloquent rant excoriating TV's executive management for the way they went down without a fight over the recent closings of the LA and Chicago branches, and takes them to task for the dramatic ways they've allowed the overall quality of the TV brand to slip at almost all of their new restaurants.
As for me, I'll miss the grand old dame (the restaurant, not Humu), but will be forever grateful for the wonderful and wacky memories I have of drinking and dining there for the first time, back in 2000. You can read about it in the review I wrote for Kevin Crossman's long-dormant, Search for the Ultimate Mai Tai page.
