Jungle Larry's Safari

I did a little antiquing yesterday, and came home with a couple of really interesting bits of ephemera. One of them was so much fun, I decided to share it, so I spent a few hours this morning scanning parts of a 1970s brochure from a wild-animal park in Florida called Jungle Larry's Safari.

Enjoy!

But Where Are the Husky Jeans?

Ah, the 1971 Sears catalog...I remember it well...especially this section (which my catholic aunt used to rip out so the heads of her 6 sons wouldn't be polluted with lustful thoughts).

Now imagine these polyesterati lounging around inside of Lileks latest Interior Desecrations exhibit.

Try not to barf on the orange-shag carpet, okay?

Thanks to Bacon and Ehs for the catalog link

Do Not Taunt Happy Fun Retro Atomica

Nobody enjoys Atomic Age ephemera more than I do, but it's sometimes easy to forget that the era also produced truly horrifying Cold War schemes like Project Pluto: a low-altitude cruise missile, powered by an atomic ramjet that carried multiple hydrogen bombs and puked out chunks of radioactive debris, killing everyone along its flightpath.

OMFG.

Floating My Boat

The 1950s and 60s weren't just the Golden Age of the automobile; fiberglass boats also reached a pinnacle of design perfection. Visit FiberGlassics' glorious brochure page and recapture those heady days of giant-finned Cadillac boats and aquatic autos. Hell, you know these had to be pretty cool watercraft if they could get Roy Rogers to climb down off of Trigger.
