Serious Nightmare Fuel

Okay, I've been looking at the obligatory Halloween links all morning and I think I've found a winner. Jeebus, who buys these things? Hopefully nobody with kids. This little fella is guaranteed to give any child nightmares for the rest of their life.

"Wanna go to the circus, Billy?"
"WAAAAHHHH!"

In Search of Ancient Disneylands

Although his books made a tremendous impact on me as a teenager, I haven't given much thought to Erich Von Däniken since then. Apparently, he's still alive and well, living in the Alps and building...of all things...a theme park based on his books. Here's the official site of Von Däniken's Mystery Park.

Professor Blomberg's Li'l Home Vampire Killer

Just in time for Halloween, Sotheby's is auctioning off this fabulous, antique vampire-killing kit! It comes complete with a mallet, wooden stake, silver bullets, and a small pistol, along with vials of various anti-vampiric unguents. Apparently made in the US during the early 20th century to cash in on Bram Stoker's Dracula, I'm enjoying the thought of nervous Transylvanian tourists requesting them from their hotel concierges before heading out for a hike in the Carpathians.

Here's another of Prof. Blomberg's kits; this one has a combined crucifix/stake for extra convenience.

UPDATE: the kit was just sold for $12,000.

Spotted in the Ookworld's wobbly orbit.

When Dummies Attack

Thus far we've had unintentionally creepy dummies, intentionally creepy dummies, and now I present you with this link featuring an irredeemably evil dummy to complete the trifecta. If that's not disturbing enough for you, Charlie's previous adventures featuring illicit drugs and non-consensual puppet sodomy might float your boat.

I'm In Love Wit' Yo' Behind

TOUCHING PEOPLE: Our Top 10 Outsider Videos - Viceland selects their favorite bizarre video clips (requires Quicktime) which include a naïve song-poem by Jan Teri, a pathetically drunk Orson Welles pitching cheap champagne, and the charmingly goofy (and disturbingly horny) salt and pepper, May/December musical duo, Elton and Betty White crooning about the joys of each other's booty, along with 7 more little-known video gems that feature painfully untalented folks doing stupidly funny things.

My own collection of outsider videos is rather thin, but I'm proud to own a copy of the Robert Tilton Fart Video (Windows Media file). Alternate link here.

Dig Infinity

Hipsters, Flipsters, and Finger-Poppin' Daddies,
Knock me your lobes!
I came here to lay Caesar out, Not to hip you to him.
The bad jazz a cat blows
Wails long after he's cut out.

A wigged-out take on Willie the Shake, thus spake Lord Buckley, one of "the wildest, grooviest, hippest, swingin'-est, double-frantic, maddest, most exquisite" cats that ever breathed.

Creepy Dummies Redux

Can ventriloquist dummies be truly disturbing when their creepiness is intentional? I'm not sure, but you can decide for yourself. Meet Mr. Deadguy and his little pals Baby Cheezwitz, Scabby the Leper Boy, Icky the Pinhead and Stumpo the Great.
