Mad Monster Movie Music Party?

Okay, since nobody paid any attention the last time I posted about them, I guess it's time for me to plug the Monster Movie Music weblog again. Your hosts, Eegah! and Tabonga! serve up a steaming pile of psychotronic movie reviews, great screencaps, AND groovy soundclips from all of your favorite midnight movies (as well as a few you've never heard of before) every single frickin' day!

Link to them, worship them, have their mutant, undead cult-film babies!

Secret of the Incas

secret_of_the_incas.jpg I've posted previously about the 1954 jungle-adventure film, Secret of the Incas, featuring Charlton Heston as a fedora- and leather jacket-clad adventurer searching for treasure in Macchu Picchu, and exotic songstress, Yma Sumac, as an Incan princess.

Several of the film's plot points, along with Heston's character, were lifted wholesale by Steven Speilberg and George Lucas for their Indiana Jones films (without credit), and Paramount has so far refused to give it a proper release on DVD, although you can purchase a copy from Yammering Magpie Cinema.

U.K. fan, James Bryne has also created a great tribute site to Secret of the Incas, that includes an extensive collection of film clips, screencaps, press kits, and posters. He loved the movie so much, he even took a trip to Peru in 2007 to trace Heston's footsteps through the Andes.

Not Necessarily Based on a True Story

rbnwllms.jpgpacadms.jpg

Chasing the Frog: a website devoted to uncovering the truth about movies that claim to be based on true stories...a topic that happens to be one of my biggest cinematic pet peeves.

Shown above: the unfunny Robin Williams as Patch Adams with his unfunny real-life counterpart.
