For Your Height Only

for your height only cover groot.jpg

I missed it the first time around, but now I've finally caught the Philipino Midget Spy-Spoof Fever thanks to this astonishing clip of the Weng Weng Rap I ganked from Junkyard Clubhouse.

I love you, my Weng Weng. Please don't kick me in the nuts.

CGI Thunderbirds = F.A.B.

Thunderbirds.jpg

Gravity Lens gives us a bittersweet taste of the Thunderbirds film that might've been; a CGI "sweetened" version of Supermarionation that hews far closer to the look and feel of the original series than the appallingly awful live-action kiddie movie we actually got stuck with at the box office.

Easter-sploitation

thief_in_night.jpgJust in time for Easter, Media Funhouse explores a rather obscure genre of Seventies exploitation, the cheesy Christian "end-times" films of Donald W. Thompson.

As a former psychedelic Christian, I remember watching these films in churches. In particular, I have vivid recollections of A Thief In the Night, the first installment of Thompson's "Rapture" series, which deals with the sudden disappearance of millions of people and the subsequent enslavement of the remainder of humanity by the Antichrist.

Quite frankly, this flick and its utter downer of a theme song, I Wish We'd All Been Ready, by Larry Norman, scared the bejeezus out of me (pun intended). I spent every day for the next 6 months expecting to be "Left Behind".

Obviously, I got better.
