Got Booze?

If you're a Republican, some Champagne might be in order today. Democrats, on the other hand, will probably be pining for a good stiff shot of Canadian Club before too long.

As for me, I'm wanting something a bit more tropical than topical right now. If anyone needs me, I'll be visiting Jamaica in my mind.

Lots more old liquor ads viewable here.

Mixilate Me

I consider myself a fairly knowledgeable mixologist, but I learned a couple of new and interesting things from the Cocktail Database that I was hitherto unaware of. For example, I'd never heard of a muddler before.

But I'm most impressed by the Mixilator which automagically generates cocktails via user-set parameters. I came up with a libation called The Clenching Tang:

Chill cocktail glass. Prepare as follows:

In pre-chilled cocktail shaker combine

* 1½ oz Muscatel
* 1 oz añejo Tequila
* ¾ oz apple cider
* 2 tsp Angostura bitters

Shake that shaker with ice like dice in a Baccarat cup.

Strain into chilled cocktail glass.

Add piece of peach.

Talk about clenching...I think I'm gonna need to drink a couple of these babies before I go vote tomorrow.

Thanks, Presurfilator!
