Interview With A Fink

weirdosNEW.jpg

The Bubblegumfink is featured in today's installment of Interviews With Bloggers over at Bella Rossa. I got a big laugh out of his description of me: "...he blogs about his parents' old crap." Technically, my parents weren't into tiki culture, they were lounge lizards, and I'm actually old enough for it to be my crap.

Speaking of tiki, I also find it interesting how many folks seem to think that it's the main thrust of the Goof. Admittedly, it's a significant part, but looking at my category stats, I've actually posted far more often on music, general retro, and art.

Groovy Age of Blogging

Bella Rossa's Interviews With Bloggers series continues with the extremely shy, retiring, and apolitical Curt, host of Groovy Age of Horror. His 'blog provides a vital service for those of us who grew up in the 60s and 70s reading horror paperbacks and comics. Looking forward to reading your book Curt!

Bali Spills the Beans

Bella Rossa has posted part the eighth of her Interviews With Bloggers series and I'm this week's interviewee. She left out the part where I confess that I'm paranoid and have delusions of grandeur, but otherwise, it's a frank and brutal portrait of a sad little man who's clearly in the midst of a prolonged mid-life crisis.

Update: welcome to all of my new visitors from PCL, and many thanks to Sebastian for his generous linkage to the Goof yesterday. Put your feet up on my virtual coffee table and feel free to browse around the joint.

After reading through the interview again, I noticed that I inadvertently left out a pretty important piece of my pre-Goof blogging history, namely my stint as a Linkalog linkologist, Linkalog was one of the earliest community weblogs; it was run by M.Ace and other members of Lazlo Nibbles' Exotica mailing list. Lazlo was also a contributor to alt.cult-movies, a Usenet newsgroup where I used to hang out, once again proving that the Internets are all connected like a series of tubes.

Screenhead Chops Off their Dong

Well, not really, but Gawker Media is putting Screenhead up for sale and editor-in-chief dong resin has decided to part ways with them at the end of this month. His unwavering support for eclectic bloggers such as Your's Truly will be sorely missed, and unlike most of the other odd link sites out there, Screenhead posted stuff that didn't pander exclusively to drunk fratboys, so I could read it without wincing.

Everyone wave as he rides off to greener Internets pastures, and be sure to shield your eyes from the blinding reflection of his pale fanny in assless pants.
