Law of Diminishing Returns

Well, the response to my previous post has been pretty underwhelming, to say the least...only 20 hits in 3 days. Clearly, the 10+ hours I spent last weekend scanning those cool retro-images of regrettable foodstuffs, typing in the recipes by hand, and assembling the pages with a buggy shareware WYSIWYG editor would've been better spent digging a pit in my frozen backyard for cooking my own luau pig and mixing up a few of those rum cocktails for myself.

In other words, I think I'm working too hard at this, so I'm going to take a little blogging vacation.

Smell you later.

More Drinking, Less Thinking

I love the serendipitous mash-ups that occur when you mix English with other languages. Folks already know about Engrish, and Chinglish is starting to make the scene, but what about Dunglish?

Other than a men's clothing chain called Sissy Boy, and some really atrocious restaurant menu translations, I didn't notice any overt use of Dunglish during my trip to the Netherlands last week. Along with the Danes, the Dutch are probably the most accomplished non-native English speakers in the world.

By the way, my trip to Australia got cancelled. Such are the vagaries of corporate restructuring and budget cuts. I'll miss having an opportunity to stomp canetoads, drink bee-ah, and eat marinated kangaroo rump with my friend littleamerica, but I won't miss the 20+ hour plane flight to Sydney.

My next travel opportunity? Vegas, baby.
