Bubblegum(He's not quite dead yet)fink pointed me at this fantastic Hungarian comic-book version of Pierre Boulle's classic science-fiction novel, Monkey Planet, which you may be more familiar with as the film, Planet of the Apes.

Mark and Monkeys Making Art

the_poke_24x30-tm.jpg

With his high-profile gigs at bOINGbOING and MAKE:zine, it's sometimes easy to forget that Mark Frauenfelder is an excellent artist/illustrator. His work is clean, simple, and charming. He'll be showing 9 of his original paintings at the Roq La Rue Gallery in Seattle starting this Friday and running through December 1st.

P.S. What's the deal with the recurring motif of the astrological symbol for Jupiter?

On a tangentially related art-note, Secret Fun Blog introduces us to the exciting world of abstract paintings created by chimpanzees. I was glad to discover that Cheetah is enjoying his retirement, as so many other celebrities do, by getting in touch with his inner simian Jackson Pollack.
