The Art of Eateries

Gastrokunst showcases restaurant artworks from the sublime to the ridiculous to the truly godawful.

Viewers are encouraged to submit their own photographs. I'll be taking my camera with me the next time we dine out.

EID Magazine Covers

"Art images for the cover of Emerging Infectious Diseases are selected for communication effectiveness, audience appeal, artistic quality, stylistic continuity, and technical reproducibility. Art is drawn from many periods (ancient to contemporary) to "humanize" and enhance the scientific content by creating order and harmony, showing chaos, revealing truth, raising consciousness, immortalizing, surprising, fantasizing, illustrating ideas, stimulating the intellect, and firing the emotions."

Nixon, and Reagan, and Bush...Oh My!

Well, I'm off to Washington D.C. tomorrow on business. Expect light to nonexistent blogging during the interim, so while I'm gone, please patronize some of the many fine online diarists listed to your left.

Considering my destination, I thought it apropos to leave you with Herblock's History, a fascinating overview of political cartoons by Herbert Block. Those of you who're still distraught over the election may wish to ponder them and consider that America has endured and survived worse things....much, much worse.

Smell ya later...
