Hukilau Bound

101x493d832e.jpg Mrs. BH and I have made reservations to attend our first Hukilau. We'll be in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from June 11th through the 14th, soaking up the sun, sucking up cocktails and ambience at the legendary Mai Kai Restaurant, grooving to the velvet sounds of Los Straitjackets, and learning the history of the Mai Tai at the feet of the Master, Beachbum Berry.

For those of you who've never heard of the Hukilau, just think of it as Burning Man for the Mai Tai set.

we want to go, but actually showing up is contingent on whether i still have a job in the next couple months.

I hear ya, and hope you can make it.

My work gig is probably secure for a while, at least, but I'm looking at a paycut in the very near future. Don't know how big yet.

Yay! Maybe I'll actually get to meet you in real life. The in-laws live in Cocoa Beach so we try to go every year we're in the country. Last year was super crazy big but you'll have so much fun, and the beach is amazing there.

Just look (down) for the shortest couple around, and it'll probably be us...;-)

I saw Los Straightjackets live last summer. It may be the best live show I have ever seen.

This'll be my 3rd time seeing them. They're great, but my all-time favorite shows are still the Ventures at the Troubador, and the Ramones and Blondie at the Whisky a' Go-Go
