wow, those are very cool. i'd never seen or heard of the book before. interesting that they're by the creator of the clifford series.

Glad you like the post! Thanks much for the mention-- I was unaware of "Eye of the Goof" before, but am adding it to my links.

Now this is brilliant!

I always wanted to have a monster ...

i totally remember that book; i think it was at my dentist's office? i recall an illustration of some kind of device attached to frankie's neck terminals.

I completely missed the Clifford connection, william. Surprising since I have 2 kids and read Clifford to them all the time when they were little.

Drunken Severed Head: welcome! Love your 'blog (and its name).

orangeguru: maybe you could make one out of old Leberkaese and Blutwurst?...;-)

J$: I'll ask my wife to bring a copy home from the library where she works and let you know what it is.

Wow, I had that book. Amazing how this stuff can come swarming back up from the depths of memory. I got just about anything Scholastic put out that related to monsters. Or dinosaurs. I wish books still had prices like that...

I had this book too, M.Ace, and a whole stack of Famous Monsters of Filmland that I threw away when I got religion. What a dumbass I was.

I'll call him Bali McFrankenheino!
