This movie started off promising, but quickly went downhill. Although, if you wanted to play "6 Degrees of Batman" ever, this movie is the nexus to use, because it contains:
Burgess Meredith (the Penguin)
Frank Gorshin (the Riddler)
Cesar Romero (the Joker)
and was directed by...
Otto Preminger (Mr. Freeze).
WEIRDNESS!
That Carol Channing scene is perma-burned into my brain. And not in a good way.

I watched the whole thing on YouTube yesterday, and I agree with your assessment, Rupe. Just a mess.
I also noticed the connection to Batman villainy. Otto Preminger had worked with Batman's producer William Dozier in film before appearing as Mr. Freeze. I'm kind of surprised Preminger was able to get (waste, actually) so much talent in this film, as he was known in the industry as a colossal dickweed.
