Piratz of the Beltwayibbean

Bali_Simpson.jpgI'm off to the Washington D.C. area for a week. While there, I plan to get together with some of my Tiki Central drinkin' buddies at Piratz Tavern (warning: painfully slow Flash site), a theme restaurant in Silver Spring, Maryland. No, I won't be wearing an eyepatch and saying "Yarrr!" while I'm there, but apparently the waitstaff will. I tend to view theme restaurants the same way I view Ren Faires...with a mixture of bemusement and annoyance...but I'll try to keep an open mind.

In other news, since I started posting at PCL, I've noticed a rather precipitous drop-off in site traffic at the Goof, a trend I find a bit worrisome considering how much time and effort it's taken me to build up my readership, and since I haven't stopped posting here, I find it kind of puzzling as well. Hopefully, it's a temporary phenomenon.

Avast, ye landlubber scum, I'm weighin' anchor!

Keerist, DC in August... good luck, Jim!

I survived Malaysia. I can survive DC!

What is PCL?

God, I feel like a fool. Look: you're on my Favorites thingee, okay? PCL isn't.

Thanks for being willing to feel foolish for my sake, but unless you were personally responsible for about 30% of my page hits every week, that still leaves a lot of missing traffic unaccounted for.

Oh gosh, the lost traffic is all my fault. I went out to the crossroads one night and flipped the sign pointing to your site. So everyone's been going out to Stinko Lake instead. I was gonna tell you about it the next morning and have a good laugh, but I totally forgot the whole thing, being pretty stinko myself, at the time. Sorry. I'll ride out there and fix it.

[sigh] why do I bother?

You bother, because you are an web tiki exhibitionist.

prepare for the grog to be boarded! arrrrr

bali hai, i think the strategerie is to expect the place to suck, so if it is half okay then it will be fun.

i must admit i have had a soft spot for 'pirate-themed' restaurants since going to the 'pirate's house' in savannah.
