Malaise-ia
Selamat Pagi...Good morning. Yes, I'm still in Malaysia, and just like last time, I picked up a nasty case of traveler's diarrhea after eating at an open-air restaurant last night. I probably should've known better, but I was getting pretty tired of staying at the hotel every night, drinking Carlsberg beer and eating bar food. Fortunately, I had the antibiotics and oral rehydration salts ready to go, so other than a bit of unpleasant stomach cramping, I'm doing okay.
Not much else to report. The weather is brutally hot and humid, so the prospect of sightseeing while dripping with sweat doesn't exactly fill me with anticipation. However, one of my students decided that it'd be fun to treat us to a "once in a lifetime" tour of Chinatown last night by driving his car up a narrow street filled with vendor stalls and tourists. Needless to say, we got some pretty nasty reactions from the crowds thronging the road. We were probably lucky they didn't drag us out of the car and beat the satay sauce out of us! It really would've been a once in a lifetime tour if that'd happened.
Six more days until I can go home. I can't wait.

Ah, yes, Malaysia. It was hot and humid and I got sick, too, but I did get to see a rat the size of dachshund. I also watched a cricket match between some Chinese and Indian students. All that wool, all that heat. Come home safe.

I think I spotted the same rat on my last trip here, Jim. This time, it's creepy monkeys crawling around on the roof of my hotel room.

You can get your own monkey. I'm not going anywhere near the rabid little bastards.

Goodness gracious. That's almost 30 years ago! He must be ancient by now. That rat, that is. Just last month in Ooty, there was a gang of monkeys trying to go through our luggage and stuff in the back of one of those autorickshaw thingies while we we contemplating the tea plantations on the hillsides from the roof of a roadside shop. Nothing like three or four adults trying to scare off thieving monkeys by making scary noises, like "don't make me come down there, so you can bite me!" Come home soon and resume blogging.

No no, I was teaching here just last October, although it wouldn't surprise me if they have ancient mutant rats here as well.
And it now looks like I've got an antibiotic-resistant strain of TD. Joy.
