Apres Malaise-ia

I've returned from Kuala Lumpur after 3 flights spread across 2 days. The usually horrific trip home was improved greatly by a surprise upgrade to business class on the Narita-to-Minneapolis leg of my journey. The flight was overbooked with no volunteers, so rather than bump me off, they booted my aching butt up to the front. It was beautiful: edible food, comfy lie-flat seat, and Sky HagsTM who actually provided friendly service rather than biting my head off for requesting an extra bag of pretzels. I arrived at the Twin Cities feeling much more alert than usual and was able to stay awake until 9pm, and slept straight through until 4:30am this morning.

In my absence, everything went to hell in a handbasket. The refrigerator and dishwasher broke, and the lawn is half-dead due to lack of watering, so I've got my work cut out for me over the next two weeks before I have to leave for Washington D.C.

Regular blogging will resume shortly.

Good to have ya back. Hope you can find some time and space to relax and recharge after that trip!

Thanks, it's great to be back. Unfortunately, I'm getting thrown right back into work, starting tomorrow.

hey bali hai, gimmme a couple days heads up (mo sooner mo betta) before you end up in d.c. and i'll make sure to meet up with you for a cocktail fo sho!

What! You mean your son and heir didn't water the lawn for you while you were away? [Surprise and shock!]

In his defense, he actually did water the lawn, just not often enough. He's also been working part-time, so I'm more inclined to give him a free pass.

Welcome back, MBH. We missed you. My last trip to India was in a pseudo-business class called Deluxe. Separate check-in line, big seats, lots of space. I actually was able to sleep in the reclino-chairs and feel rested upon wakage. Nice.

Seems like a lot of airlines are offering the pseudo-biz class nowadays. I think it's a good thing, especially on long flights.
