Paranoid Autobahn

Here are 2 lovely video clips, courtesy of the Cartoonist. First, foppish Teutonic Sonny and Cher wannabes, Cindy und Bert, regale us with a tune called Der Hund Von Baskerville, a song with lyrics apparently based on the Sherlock Holmes novel, but which for some unfathomable reason, are set to the tune of Black Sabbath's Paranoid. The camera keeps panning away from their faces to show Cindy's yawning dog, who speaks for all of us, I think.

The 2nd clip is a fab animation of Krafterk's electronica classic, Autobahn. Very Peter Max-ish with the giant lips, doncha think?

I played both clips simultaneously, whereupon I immediately entered into a deep trance. Soon, Thomas Gottschalk appeared to me in the form of a gigantic robot Pekinese, lifted his leg, and urinated on my head. I am now enlightened...and wet.

P.S. Actually, I totally spaced out the fact that ronebofh sent me that Cindy und Bert clip weeks ago. I blame the Anti-Gottschalk.

Oh, I so want Cindy und Bert to be a lounge act somewhere still.

They're probably playing the Bavarian Sausage Festival circuit nowadays in tiny villages with names like Grosshumperdincken and Neuspargelkohl.

Hmph, i sent you a link to the former weeks ago. Fie!

Argh, you did! I knew that someone had sent me that clip before, but I couldn't remember who. Sorry.

hey it's about that time of year for spargel. maybe cindy und bert have a good song about that somewhere.

that cindy chick's face creeps me out... i don't know if it's because it resembles a ventriloquist dummy or what...

That would explain why Bert has his hand up the back of Cindy's dress...or not.

I find the audience much more interesting than Cindy & Bert, although Bert isn't bad either giving his best Klaus Kinski impression.

He does look a little like Klaus Kinky, doesn't he?

Greatest. Video. Ever.

The couple trying to slow dance is my favorite.

Jeff: I remember watching kids try to dance to Sabbath's "Children of the Grave" at one of my high-school hops back in the Seventies. Hilarious.

Cindy und Bert are actually still touring Germany. Mostly singing in beer tents, revival shows and homes for the elderly.

From all the german Schlager stars they ain't the worst, but also not the best.
