Tiki Noir

Alright youse (tiki) mugs, take a slant to the hip, noir-style portraiture of Bay Area photographer, Jim Ferreira. His dark, moody style lends itself well to Tiki, Burlesque, and Exotica themes, like this series shot at Forbidden Island in Alameda, and these adorable shots of Tiki News founder, Otto Von Stroheim, and his burlesque-y frau, Baby Doe, goofing around in their home tiki bar.

I lived in the Bay Area for several years, but didn't spend a whole lot of time in Alameda. I was usually just driving through on my way to someplace else. I will definitely remedy that the next time I visit, since Forbidden Island is near the top of my list of tiki bars to hang out in.

Way to sharp for my taste ... they feel to modern ... the guy should have used Photoshop to give them the old 'Casablanca' look ...
