I found this scan of an old table card from Christian's Hut Restaurant at Mimi Payne's wonderful Arkiva Tropika website. You may notice the similarity between the snaggly-toothed fellow on the card and the guy in the white chef's hat at the top of my webpage, that's because it's an earlier incarnation of the exotic and mysterious Goof.

Nobody's exactly sure where the Goof came from, or what he's supposed to represent, but you can read some speculative history at the Bali Hai Restaurant's website. The Hut eventually became the Bali Hai, and the Goof still surveys all from his perch atop the roof, as do I.

Mmm, Gimlet.
