Digging the Malaysian Scene

Just a quick note that I've arrived in Kuala Lumpur. Due to extreme jet lag, I laid low yesterday and stuck close to the hotel, but today I plan to venture further afield. I'll post some photographs when I get a chance. I had Nasi Goreng for breakfast yesterday. It was delicious. However, I passed up an opportunity to have chinese porridge with 100-year old eggs. Maybe tomorrow.

Be seeing you.

oooo i hope you take grooovy pics like your 1970 family pic!
it will be cool to see what you think is neato in tiki land!

you are adventurous!

I didn't take many photos yesterday, unfortunately. It was just too hot and unpleasant, so I wasn't much in the mood. Kuala Lumpur is also an extremely dirty and ugly city.

Funny you should mention tikis. A lot of the carved masks you see in tiki bars actually come from Indonesia and Malaysia rather than Polynesia.

have you ever heard deadbolt's song "watango" about a headhunter? it's psychobilly from san diego. i was into that in the early nineties. here's a quote "carrying a sever head of a hippy.. in his hand" you've probably heard it. i love deadbolt. i haven't looked at their website in 6 years! they had audio clips. where's my cd?

Never heard of them, but I wasn't a huge Psychobilly fan. I can't even remember what I was listening to in the early 90's any more...probably Wire and Shriekback.
