Interview With A Fink
The Bubblegumfink is featured in today's installment of Interviews With Bloggers over at Bella Rossa. I got a big laugh out of his description of me: "...he blogs about his parents' old crap." Technically, my parents weren't into tiki culture, they were lounge lizards, and I'm actually old enough for it to be my crap.
Speaking of tiki, I also find it interesting how many folks seem to think that it's the main thrust of the Goof. Admittedly, it's a significant part, but looking at my category stats, I've actually posted far more often on music, general retro, and art.

I know, and I was just pointing out, in my usual obscure way, that I enjoyed the way you communicated that fact in the interview.

whole or raw foods book he was referring to in the interview?

because your name is mrbalihai, i think you love polynesian stuff + your parents were yul brenner + deborah kerr (is that right?) + every time i see anything tiki or easter island, i think you might like it. i saw a tiki water bottle in a store this week + thought of you...
not that you're limited to tiki ;)
i was trying to think of the name of a little bar on san pablo avenue in albany, ca to ask if you knew about it. it's still there + it was where the owner of trader vics started out(according to my grandparents in law who were major lushes)

mod*mom: actually, my dad was the Sicilian version of Benny Hill, and my mom was Cyd Charisse after a couple of beers...;-)
There were 2 old tiki bars on San Pablo: the one that's still open is called Club Mallard, and has no association with (Trader) Vic Bergeron. Vic's first bar, Hinky Dink's, was also located in Oakland on San Pablo, but it's been gone for many years.
