Eurodisco Hangover
I returned from London last night, and after 9 days of chip butties, ale, and Eurovision, I'm in serious need of some exercise, so I'm going dance with Italy's Madonna, Heather Parisi, and watch those excess pounds and inches melt away. [Link: Disco Bambina]

What are "chip butties?" For that matter, what are "bacon butties?" I have heard that English cuisine boasts a bacon sandwich in which white bread is slathered with butter, layered with bacon, and then fried in the bacon fat. Is this a "bacon butty?"

A chip butty is simply any sandwich that has chips in it. When eating lunch at the pub, my colleagues would order a steak sandwich, then carefully insert an entire side of chips into it.
I've not heard of bacon butties, but they sound like standard English fare. I eschewed the fried bread and bacon offered by my hotel for breakfast, and stuck with porridge. Please sir, may I have more gruel?
