One Day At Johnie's
My friend Kathyrn just posted some of her photos from the one-day-only grand reopening of Johnie's Coffee Shop in downtown L.A., hosted by the fine folks of the Los Angeles Conservancy. Johnie's is an especially excellent example of the rapidly-vanishing style of Googie architecture once prevalent in Southern California.
It looks like the event was a lot of fun, and I think it's pretty cool that Eldon Davis, one of the original architects was actually on hand to meet the folks who stopped by.
I wonder if the pie was any good?
My previous post about Johnie's is here.

They bought in pie from Marie Callender's, which was mostly room temperature and bland. But, it was good being there.

Well, that's kind of a bummer. A damn fine slice of pie would've really been the icing on the cake...uh, I mean pie...or something.
