Batfink a Go Go

Have I mentioned how much I'm enjoying The Absorbascon? As if these posts about Lois Lane Haiku and super-bouffanted superheroines weren't entertaining enough, they had to go and jar loose my ancient memories of the coolest cartoon superhero of them all, Batfink! I mean, how could I not dig a costumed cave-rodent who rides around in a finned Volkswagen called the Bat-illac with his clumsy sidekick Karate, fighting a hinky villain named Hugo A Go Go? His catchphrase was unforgettable, "Your (insert threat du jour) cannot harm me. My wings are like a shield of steel!" Click here to view the opening sequence of each episode and be infected with the earwormy theme song (.mov file 1.3MB).

Batfink's creator, Hal Seeger, also did the classic Milton the Monster cartoon, of which I have only the vaguest of childhood memories. It looks pretty cool too.

Yeah, that Dave Mackey site is older than dirt and it's probably been blogged more times than Cory Doctorow has DRM rants. Get over it.

i'd never heard of batfink before. but it looks great based on the opeing.

Yes, it's a lot of fun, but best watched in small doses due to the repetitiveness of the episodes.
