Tiki Bar Update

I haven't posted about my home tiki bar lately because not much progress has been made for the past couple of weeks. The contractors have been busy elsewhere, but I'm hoping that they're going to be back soon because I just received a truckload of way-cool stuff I ordered from Oceanic Arts!

Here's a pic of a couple of carved posts that'll be used for the bar entrance and thatched canopy, along with a nifty New Guinea-style mask that I'll be adding to my collection of wall masks. Not shown are the giant rolls of wired bamboo fencing that almost gave me a hernia when I hauled them into my workshop yesterday evening.

I also received a couple wicked-cool (and pointy!) pufferfish lamps that'll be hung over the bar. They worked well for scaring the crap out of Mrs. Bali Hai and the kids. Hee hee.

Needless to say, I'm getting really impatient to have this project finished so I can lounge around in my new bar in a fez and smoking jacket, drinking Mai Tais!

Way cool pillars! And way scary puffer fish. :P

Can't you get drunk without these things?

Of course, Dieter, but it's not as much fun!...:-)

May I ask in the name of the audience what you are doing with these things when you are drunk? My mind wonders ... but my mental pictures are very disturbing ...

Ha! The posts are about 100cm high, so I'm not using them as sex toys, if that's what you're thinking...:-O

4 of the big posts will frame the bar entrance, 2 of the smaller posts will be used to support a thatched roof over the bar, and the ceremonial mask is going to hang on the wall, along with the rest of my tiki art.

Herr Hai, I think we have to send you the TÜV - Tiki Überwachungs Verein - to check if your sticky conduct is acceptable and safe to the public and hawaiian code of sticks.

Nein danke!
