Thinking of Blighty

I just now saw the news about the London explosions and I want to send out my thoughts and prayers to my pals Ralf, Konstantin, Annie, and Plep. Sounds like the first 3 are ok, no word from Plep yet.

If this is a terrorist attack, and it sure sounds like one, I hope they catch the pricks who did it alive and deny them the martyrdom they seek.

UPDATE: looks like plep checked in at MetaFilter, so I can let out a little bit more of the breath I was holding in, but I've got a lot of other non-blogging mates in London I'm waiting to hear from.

UPDATE to the UPDATE: plep links to this spot-on Letter To The Terrorists, From London.

It's now a quarter past eight in the evening and there's still chaos in Greater London with tube stations and roads being sealed off, although most trains are running again out of the capital. English police and emergency services have been working with an almost German efficiency here.

Thanks for the update, Ralf. I just received a long e-mail from plep describing his day downtown in the thick of things. Sounds like everyone's keeping the proverbial stiff upper lip over there.

London is hands-down my favorite city in the entire world and this whole situation saddens me more than I can say. What sickens me even more is the pundits, political charlatans, and armchair quarterbacks all over the world who don't even have the decency to let the bodies grow cold before trying to score political points off this tragedy.

Thanks very much, much appreciated, f*ckin bastards, excuse my language.

Actually, you're being far too polite...I would've tossed in a few more choice adjectives to describe them, K!

Fair enough : )
