Having been a Psychedelic Christian (AKA Jesus Freak) back in the '70s, I really appreciated this WFMU post on Pastor John Rydgren, a Lutheran clergyman who created syndicated radio spots featuring mini-sermons set to hipster/beat lingo (spoken Ken Nordine-style) over swingin' backing instrumentals that wouldn't have been out of place in a strip club or a Russ Meyers film. WFMU has 19 Rydgren mp3s for you to trip along to; they're all good, but I recommend starting with the Hippy Version of the 23rd Psalm and Here Lies the Church.
