I've been really busy at work this week, and too much good stuff's been hitting my aggregator for me to keep up with on a daily basis, so I'm just going to toss some links up against the wall and see what sticks:

The Red Book of the Peoples of the Russian Empire: an exhaustive and fascinating list of the plethora of ethnic minorities within the former Soviet Union (via Ramage).

The increasingly awesome Essential Ghoul's Record Shelf features an MP3 of Lon Chaney Jr. singing the theme song to one of my favorite psychotronic films, Spider Baby, who one reviewer calls, "a television sitcom directed by Luis Buñuel." I think that's quite an apt description.

Finally, I was going to post about the case of severe cognitive dissonance that's apparent in this news story about the former Dukes of Hazzard star named "Cooter" who's urging people not to see the new movie version because it contains "profanity and sexual content", but the Daily Mercury beat me to it. For those of you who don't get it, "cooter" is sexual slang in at least some parts of the US, although down South, I think it's also a kind of turtle.
