Sunday Funnies

I came across a number of cool comic-related sites in my web wanderings today. Here are the best of them for your browsing pleasure:

Just as the name implies, Crimeboss covers the gamut of crime-related comic books from the 1940s and 50s. The cover gallery is fantastic!

I'm old enough to remember Li'l Abner, and it's amazing how much of what appeared in that strip seeped into the cultural consciousness of the US: Sadie Hawkins Day, Kickapoo Joy Juice, and Lower Slobbovia were all part of the legacy left behind by Al Capp's creations. Until today, I didn't realize that Frank Frazetta ghosted the strip. Learn sumthin' new every day!

Finally, there's The Silver Age Marvel Comics Cover Index. The site appears to be relatively new, so there are some big gaps in the collection, but what's there so far is incredible.

Best Li'l Abner creation ever: The Shmoo.

Shmoos are the original Tribble.

Yeah, and Tribbles don't taste like steak when you broil 'em and chicken when you fry 'em!
