Blog Will Eat Itself
I'm usually not much for memes, but this idea of picking 10 bloggers you'd like to meet for dinner and drinks is too good to pass up, especially since I've done it a couple of times already in real life. Here's the photographic evidence of my dinner in London with Plep, Ralf, Annie, and Konstantin. I've also broken bread with Uncle Jim, my friend Jonathan, and the Mort/Chin tagteam. In addition, I've practiced consensual cannibalism with practically everyone on my LJ friends list.
So who's left? Well, I'd pick the following folks in no particular order:
- Alice Bag and Theresa Kereakes, because all 3 of us were hanging out in the same LA clubs in 1977, watching the same punk bands and knew the same people, but somehow we never met.
- Sebastian, that hard-drinking, insomniac Swede who poops out pop-cultural links faster than you can say "Fanvacooltva!"
- M.Ace and Dean Sabatino: we could discuss the evolution of Philly punks into lounge lizards and graphic designers.
- Michelle, because she's a foodie with great taste in art, and a survivor. All qualities that I admire.
- Mark, because I think he and I would have a pretty good discussion about religion...and movie monsters.
- William, who's taste in photography, film, and Asian culture runs similar to mine.
- Matt likes Eames chairs, cartoons, and celebrity gossip as much as I do.
- Last but not least, dong resin, because anyone who's written a book from the perspective of Paris Hilton's chihuahua is somebody that I want to get drunk with.
If you didn't make the list, don't take it personally. I still love you and want to bear your children, I just couldn't get a table for 20 on such short notice.

Ha ha! Thanks a lot Matt. It would be a swellegant dinner party.

What a great idea! Perhaps we could all meet for Mai Tais at your namesake restaurant on Shelter Island? yummy yummy...

Thanks, man. Pass me a breadstick!

Alice, I'll be in LA from May 31st through June 5th, and I've already tossed around the idea of tossing back a few with some of the former in-crowders at the Tiki Ti (if they're open). You'd be very welcome. So far, I've mentioned the idea to X-8, Michele Flipside, Pooch, and Al.
Does Theresa still live in the LA area? I was under the impression that she was in Chicago or New York.
Matt, you can have all the breadsticks. I'm doin' South Beach, baby!

Honored to make the list! I'm envious of the bloggers you've already met. You blogroll a good bunch of people! Of course, you'd make my list easily.

Gawrsh, thanks very much for the tip of the hat, MrBH. I am honored to be mentioned amongst such a fine group of people.

I'd be there...the first round is on me! I can imagine a very interesting evening!

I'm always game for some Ray's Mistakes. That sounds like a fabulous idea. It would be terrific to see everyone again. Keep me posted and I'll mark my calendar.

I suppose it's because I don't actually have a blog... snif.

Alan, I just couldn't, in good conscience, sit down to eat with someone who's actually looking foward to the release of Herbie: Fully Loaded...I have to maintain certain standards, doncha know.
Posted by: MrBaliHai | April 14, 2005 6:36 PM
Hey, I'm looking forward to watching Herbie while I'm fully loaded too!

After a couple of Ray's Mistakes, you'd probably be able to talk me into going along with you!

Heh - I've got *much* worse taste than that, not that I'm gonna go into the details in public. Anyway, the new Love Bug movie looks to be *almost exactly as dumb and hokey as the originals* - no small feat, frankly. (And hey, if you want, I'd be more than happy to take your chair away, if that's all that's stopping you from eating with me...)

Sorry I'm late, I was waiting in the bar, swigging Soju. Hey, where are all the breadsticks? Oh, man ...
Posted by: jim | April 15, 2005 11:27 AM
They're buried under the 4-alarm fire kimchi, Jim. Dig in!

I didn't say thanks for the link. Thanks!
Well, I just want to play this meme if I can have a table for 20... ate least for 16.
