Cookin' With Trader Vic
While antiquing in LA back in 2003, I came across a mint copy of the 1962 edition of Trader Vic's Pacific Island Cookbook. I scanned a few of the beautiful color plates, then forgot about it until recently when I thought it might be fun to expand on it a bit.
I decided to transcribe some of the food and drink recipes, along with the text that accompanied the photographs, put it all together as an easy-to-navigate thumbnail map, and post it here on the Goof for everyone to enjoy. This is a work in progress, so I'll be updating the site with additional recipes, color plates, and new tropical drinks from the book as the mood strikes me.
So Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, and Tiki aficionados of all ages, without further adieu, I present you with The Trader Vic's Pacific Island Cookbook...online!
Bon Appetit and Bottoms Up!

Ooh. I'm intrigued by the chicken and bananas. That's either going to be really good or really bad, but it sounds like it falls on the yummy side. They can keep some of the other stuff, though -- especially the aspic. For some reason, gelatin dishes really creep me out. :)

CG, I'm going to make the Mahimahi Dali Dali just because I like the name so much.
And I agree with you about the aspic dishes. Maybe it's because we're overexposed to that sort of weird hot-dish, casserole, jell-o mold culture here in the Upper Midwest?
