I'm sorry to report that one of my childhood idols, ventriloquist Paul Winchell, appears to be completely nuckin' futz; according to his daughter, April, he's been that way for a long, long time.

one with a father like that. Her page is definately bookmark worthy.
I wonder how many ventriliquists minds tatter, like the Anthony Hopkins character in the movie Magic, must be hard to sort out whos who when a couple voices get going.

Very sad too. It's worth digging around in April's blog to read her stories about him. He's been mentally unbalanced for most of his life and has not sought professional help. Instead, he keeps withdrawing further away from his family, and embracing these cultish religious beliefs.
