Spot the Phony

One of these record labels is a fake. Can you Spot the Phony?

Rockfinger gets my vote. It's too typical. "Alright Tonight"? That's almost as good as "Tonite I'm Gonna Rock You Tonite". I wanted to start a Badfinger cover band and call it Worsefinger. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

DingDingDing! Give the man a rubber cigar. The entire Clubbo Records site is a very clever forgery. Camp Records seems as if it ought to be a fake, but I recall hearing several of those songs played on Dr. Demento back in the 1970s.

Worsefinger, Stinkfinger, Middlefinger...the possibilities are endless!

Say, Clubbo Records is a nice piece of work (and rather relevant to recent discussion of NatLamp and their elaborate impersonations). However, contrary to the Hoax site's speculation, Action Plus was (is?) a real band -- another Joe Gore project. They put out a couple of CDs back in the mid/late-90s, which I never got around to acquiring.

The 'finger' discussion reminds me of something from high school. A tech school lout had an accident and whined, "Damn, I cut my f-ck finger."

Not his middle finger -- his f-ck finger. And he said it with unhesitant naturalism, so you know, in his head, that was how he identified it. I wonder what he called his other fingers... pointer finger, nose picker, ear cleaner?

I missed that reference to Action Plus. I actually saw them at the Haight-Ashbury Street Festival about 5 or 6 years ago. I only remember them because they had a theremin player.

I wonder what he called his other fingers...?

One shudders to think.

Just to be clear, he wasn't calling it his "f-ck finger" because it was employed in that actual activity. It was purely for its bird-flipping gestural use. Believe me, that kid wasn't getting any. Quite a character, with a big, round head. He left an impression of Charlie Brown's ill-tempered older brother.
