Me and My S.H.A.D.O

I found myself with a little discretionary income due to an unexpected windfall of cash, so I decided to buy myself something completely unecessary that I've wanted for a long time...the complete boxed DVD set of Gerry Anderson's short-lived, but utterly amazing live-action series, UFO.

When I lived in Los Angeles during the early Seventies, UFO was a huge hit. Set in the fantastic future world of 1980 (?!), the show was chockablock with cool hardware, bizarre unisex fashions, foxy Moonbase babes wearing aluminum leotards and purple wigs, and an unbelievably catchy theme song by legendary composer, Barry Gray, that has been indelibly burned into my brain for over 30 years.

I watched a couple of episodes last night, I think I'll go watch a couple more right now.

UFO was, and always will be, THE SHIT!

The fashions, the vehicles...boy I can't wait 'til 1980...

I think you meant TEH SHIT, Eddie. Gotta keep up-to-date with all the l33t HAXOR lingo kidz are using these days, doncha know.

And yeah, hopefully the *real* Eighties will be arriving soon...right after they deliver my jetpack and ticket on a rocket plane to the Mars colonies.

FoShizzle My Nizzle and its |-|4x0r not Haxor :)

John, how the hell are you, buddy? When are you going to get back together with Exene and record a new album?

Ah, we rented those dvds a while back and they are fantastic, no? I like the women with purple wigs and silver outfits because really they have no logical reason to wear purple wigs and silver outfits. Also the meshy, skin tight outfits the men on the submarine wear are very sexy.

In one of the early episodes, you see a Moonbase staffer on leave from S.H.A.D.O without her purple wig and garish makeup. Apparently, they were only worn when on duty, which is even weirder.

And yes, the fishnet shirts on Sky One are totally faboo. I'll bet they turn the sub into a disco at night...;-)
