Proof That Watching TV Makes You Stoopid
Astonishing. Apparently, there are people out there who're so incredibly stupid they think they can contact their favorite celebrity or television show simply by commenting on any weblog that turns up on a Google search of their name.

I've had a similar experience. Back in March I made a post about 17 year cicadas. Since then I've received countless emails asking me incredibly silly questions about the cicadas. Most of them wanting to know if they needed to somehow proctect themselves from the insects. I received some pretty silly comments, too. Primarily from young spelling-impaired teenagers.
Of course, this is not nearly as bad as what the people you mention in your post are experiencing. So sad.

That's pretty bizarre, Mark. I can kind of understand how a couple of people might read a post of yours, then naively think you're some sort of expert on the subject you posted about, but to get an endless stream of queries like that is just weird.

There nothing wierd about it, there just alot of dummies out there. as Mordecai Jones once said "Greed and 14 carat ignorance , they never let you down" What amazes me is to what extent
the flim flammers can bamboozle the dummies and then look in the mirror and shave in the morning.

As P.T. Barnum is alleged to have said, "There's a sucker born every minute."

You know, in the case of Maury and John Edwards, i can believe that the average regular viewer really is that dense.

It doesn't have to be tv celebrities. Before I taxidermy-ized it, my accordion weblog, Pancordia drew some doozies.
There are actually a couple of cool posts on this Dick Contino thread, though some others just make you shake your head:

But this one wins the prize:
