Good article, thanks! I already knew a little bit about Lucharesu from Lili and Eddie at fwak!, but that fleshed it out nicely.
As for Kaliman, he's sort of a south-of-the-border Dr. Strange, no?

More than that... he has kung fu skillz. The second site's introduction says,
"Así me introduje en el mundo de Kalimán, curiosa mezcla entre Agatha Christy, Rice Burroughs, Emilio Salgari e Isaac Asimov."
So, those names should give you a hint. He's too muscly to be merely El Doctor Extraño, ya know. Maybe Paul remembers more than i do.

That's quite a mixture of influences! If they threw in a little of the dry humor of Abe Vigoda and the unique finger-picking styles of Leo Kottke, he'd be a truly well-rounded character...=^/
