Big Black Nemesis, Parthenogenesis

Nemesis the Warlock: Arch-deviant, Lord of the Flies, sworn enemy of the Universe's greatest fascist, Torquemada, and the subject of an eponymous song by Shriekback (that dealt brilliantly with the slippery nature of evil). Nemesis is definitely one of 2000AD's more memorable creations, and my favorite comic-book character.
An interesting overview that shows how the style of Nemesis and Torquemada evolved, as well as a fantastic gallery of 2000AD art is on display at ABC Warriors.

Ever read a book called Gearheads? It was about the start of the Show Robotwars. They were going to battle car size robots in the desert, I wonder if they did?

No, I've never heard of it. Is it related in some way to the ABC Warriors?

I haven't really watched Robot Wars for more than a couple of minutes, although I really enjoyed the Simpsons episode that poked fun at it...;^)

Exactly the Simpsons episode nailed it. The origonal concept of the show as described in Gearheads was presented as an art exhibition. The
bots were way out of control and when one powered by a jet engine went haywire the cops raided the art gallery. It was way out stuff back then not the prime time crap it is now. I still have my ear to the ground for the under the radar activities of the
battle in the Nevada desert with tractor sized bots.
