Mucha Noir
I stumbled across this swell gallery of film-noir posters while looking through some of the links from my last entry. Noir Cinema's website may not be pretty, but it sure delivers the goods.
My favorite noir film is Edgar G. Ulmer's Poverty Row quickie, Detour, they don't come any bleaker than this hardboiled tale of a down-on-his-luck piano player and a psychotic, murderous dame on the lam.
And if you can't quite make sense of all the gritty dialogue in these cinematic gems, check out Twists, Slugs and Roscoes: A Glossary of Hardboiled Slang.

I've not seen detour, but I love the Black Cat. Also, did you know that Ulmer made a couple of Yiddish-language films? I've seen fishke der krumer and enjoyed it, but grine felder is supposed to be better.

The Black Cat is one of my faves as well. I have heard about Ulmer's Yiddish films, but haven't seen any of them. Nobody could make better films faster, or for less money than he could.

Dude, thanks for putting all of your postings on your RSS. I'm totally sorry to be such a wet blanket, but I can hardly read it with the colours you've selected -- I have to zoom it until only half a dozen words or so fit on a line. Anyway, you have a line on a pile of fascinating things, so thank you very much!

Dude, I always appreciate usability input, and I think the Goof is about due for a redesign, so I'll try to come up with a font-color combination that's not so hard on the eyes. I just don't want to wind up with another boring beige blog that looks like it rolled off the Moveable Type assembly line.

It seems that you've made a change or two, because your entries are legible now without having to resort to Ctrl +

Yeah, I upped the font size and tweaked the colors a bit over the weekend. One of the combinations I tried looked like Christmas dipped in urine. So much for color-wheel theory...
