Obligatory Wisconsin Post

I've been running across a lot of Wisconsin links lately. Since that's where I live, I feel obligated to check them out. Now I feel obligated to post them for all youse guys.

This one deals mostly in cheesehead stereotypes that riff on Jeff Foxworthy's exceedingly tedious "You May Be A Redneck If..." routine. but that's not to say that some of those stereotypes aren't true (and funny). The Packer Fan Application Form contains a couple of particularly keen insights too. I find it odd that this site is maintained by a realtor from Raleigh, North Carolina.

Here's a great site called Weird Wisconsin which claims that my fair state has "the highest proportion of eccentric environments in the USA" (I would've guessed much higher). I particularly enjoyed this gallery of roadside folk art, no discussion of which would be complete without a look at the phenomenon of the Bathtub Virgin Mary. Oddly, there's no mention of FAST Corp. in Sparta which makes those really cool giant fiberglass statues.

Finally, take the Random Wisconsin City Name Generator for a spin. How many names can you come up with that end in "-quon" or "-tosa"?
